"GRAND CANYON"
The Grand Canyon is a famous canyon in Arizona. Moreover, it was one of "Seven Natural Wonders of The World" and a National Park of United States. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and is over a mile (1.83 km) (6000 feet) deep in places. The Grand Canyon is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Grand Canyon formed by The Colorado River. The Colorado River is a river in the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. It is approximately 1,450 miles (2,330 km) long. It drains a part of the dry regions on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. On its way the Colorado River runs through Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California and Mexico.
North Rim
The North Rim is a smaller and more remote area with less tourist activity.The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is located far from cities, towns and
highways, allowing the Kaibab Plateau to remain pristine and primitive. Although
this is ideal for a national park, it does have its downfalls. The Grand Canyon North Rim is very close to the Utah Border. It is
requires more effort to visit the North Rim than it does to visit the
South Rim. It is more remote and less visitor will make it to the North
side. It is ONLY open seasonally from
May 15th through October 15th each year, there is not an Airport
nearby-Page, Arizona and St. George, Utah being the closest, and it is
just over 200 miles from the South Rim-requiring a 4 hour drive.
South Rim
The South Rim is more accessible than the North Rim. Most visitors to the park come to the South Rim.The Scenic views and vista's are what you are expecting and have been
waiting a lifetime to see. The South Rim is open year around and
accessible by all. The South Rim is open year-round, 24 hours a day.
There are twelve glorious months a year
to visit the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, and each season has its own
strengths and negatives. The spring and fall are less crowded, and the
Kaibab Plateau surrounding the South and North Rims is ablaze with
wildflowers from late March through May and with golden aspen in early
October. Winter at the South Rim offers the chance to see the
multitudinous layers of rock dusted in white, and the smallest crowds of
the year, opening the door to availability of the choicest lodging on
the Rim and nearby. These three seasons may, however, bring
unpredictable temperatures, limited visibility, reduced shuttle routes,
shorter days, and fewer National Park programs from which to choose.If your visit will occur during the peak summer season at the South Rim, May through September, you'll certainly experience the best months when it comes to weather, available programs and school vacation schedules. But the flip side to visiting the South Rim in summer means crowds, sold-out hotels and tours; expect crowded parking lots, viewpoints, hiking trails, food outlets and ranger talks. The best way to combat the crowds is to plan at least 12 months in advance and book your reservations early for lodging, campgrounds, tours, and fine dining.
West Rim
East Rim
Horseshoe Bend, located just 7 miles up river from the actual beginning of Grand Canyon National Park. Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, in the United States. Horseshoe Bend is located 5 miles (8.0 km) downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, about 4 miles (6.4 km) southwest of Page. An under appreciated attraction on the East end of the Grand Canyon is the Little Colorado River Tribal Park on the Navajo Nation.\
